The Plane Truth

November 7, 2006

Dateline: Sunday October 29, 2006. Yet another plane crash in Nigeria.

My UnEnding condolences to the families of the victims.

To my shock, it seems we haven’t learnt any lessons from the past.

People are busy blaming everybody else, blaming even the dead pilot!

The popular buzzword is now flying around- “REFORMS”

Interactive sessions with stakeholders. Committees. Panels. White Papers…

When will this stop?

We don’t need more cosmetic measures. We need a clear vision of where Nigeria is going. What kind of nation will we be in the next 5 years? In the next 10 years? In the next 50 years?

We cannot keep stumbling along, using people’s lives to do “patch-patch” maintenance.

That’s the plain truth.

Born a Crook?

November 4, 2006

Do you know Tupac’s real name?

Contrary to popular belief, Tupac Amaru was not Tupac’s first given name .

Tupac Amaru Shakur was born Lesane Parish Crooks in the Bronx, New York City on June 16, 1971 .

Killer Ideas Kill!

November 3, 2006

How on earth did “killer”
become such a common word?

Today there are killer graphics,
killer software, killer banner ads,
killer reports, even killer ideas.

But do you know why they are
called “killer”? That’s right: because
they kill!

Have you considered how much
time you kill searching for the
next killer report?

What about the amount of cash
you’ve killed on all those killer
ideas ebooks?

Worst of all, killer ideas kill your
capacity to think. Subtly, you
are deceived into believing you
cannot think out answers for
yourself – you MUST get the
latest killer ideas.

When next you encounter the
latest killer idea ebook, don’t
say I didn’t warn you!

The Christian and The Bra

November 3, 2006

An alarming number of Christians are
addicted to porn. Yes, and that includes
pastors, prayer leaders, young Christians,
old Christians.

Why? You may ask. Everybody seems to
know why. Of course it’s the devil. And our
human nature. And the porn guys. And our
weak faith. And so on.

(WARNING: This is not another homily about
why pornography is bad for you and 15 steps
to break the porn habit, blah blah blah. We
are dealing with real issues here, not fluff.)

How does one break free from porn?

By relying on God alone.

Obviously this sounds too simple, perhaps even
naive. How can merely relying on God break such
a strong addiction as pornography? Isn’t that a
passive approach? What action steps should I
take?

Truth be told: the Christian life is a relationship,
not a formula. We are called to live the life
of Christ – a life of victory over temptation and
sin.

This is the life Paul describes:

[You] are not controlled by
your sinful nature. You are
controlled by the Spirit if you
have the Spirit of God living in
you. (And remember that those
who do not have the Spirit of
Christ living in them are not
Christians at all.)
Romans 8:9

But how exactly do I rely on God?

By continually asking Him to help you.

We are not left to our own devices,
forever looking for the magic formula to
freedom. God is more than willing to help
us live the pure life He has called us to.
Yet His help is not automatic; we have
to ask for it.

God says: “If you will only obey me and
let me help you…” (Isaiah 1:19)

Am I saying that once you ask God for
help, BOOM, you’ll never slip into the
pornography trap again, never get
tempted? I wish I could tell you that.
However the truth is most people still
stumble, even after asking for God’s help.

Thank God, there’s hope! God promises
us that though we may slip, we will not fall.

The steps of the godly are directed by the Lord
He delights in every detail of their lives.
Though they stumble, they will not fall,
for the Lord holds them by the hand
Psalm 37:23-24

God is more practical than most people think.
He understands you will make mistakes. As you
continually ask for His help, you will discover
that His inner strength will keep you from porn.
Even if you do slip, His Spirit will make you
realize your sin and ask for forgiveness.

Why not ask for His help now?

Beyond Makaveli

October 23, 2006

He’s been gone over 10 years now.

Yet everywhere I go, I see more and more 2Pac memorablia: T-shirts, bandanas, websites, posters, and more CDs.

What has kept Tupac Amaru Shakur in the spotlight all these years?

Could it be the power of his oratory? Or is it just hype?

Was he really that good? Or did his death soften us and make us less critical of his works?

Most of all, what did he really represent?

Welcome to the Secret Makaveli, the Unofficial site that says is like it is.

This is Tupac Shakur as never before. UnPainted. UnHyped.

Hollywood Christ

October 23, 2006

You may not be sure of the Rapture, but you can be sure of one thing: Christ is coming soon to a theatre near you.

First it was The Passion of The Christ. More recently, it’s The Da Vinci Code.

What’s really behind all this interest in Christ? Love or lucre?

Some believe this is creating more awareness about Christ. Others wonder what kind of awareness is actually being created. Still others are only aware of the hype and all those Da Vinci Code spin-offs.

What do YOU think?

How would you like to make your own movie?

How many times have you realised that the movie you were watching could have been done with better camera angles, better twist in the storyline?

What if I told you that you could produce your own movie as soon as you finish reading this?

Of course, moviemaking needs a lot more than just reading. It needs time. And a whole lot of money. And the truth is most people will never have the time or money to produce the movies of their dreams.

But if you are going to read this blog with an open mind, you will discover that your imagination will definitely be expanded and you will notice more opportunities to make things happen.

Afterall, all you really need is FOCUS. UnDivided attention. UnHyped Information.

All you need is UnPink.

Are you trying to be a success?

It’s no use: Stop trying!

Many people find it hard to be a success because they keep trying to be a success instead of being a success.

Subtle difference, huh?

I love the way this powerful thought was summarised in The Matrix training scene where Morpheus shouts at Neo “Come on! Stop trying to hit me and HIT ME!

Seems easier said than done. Yet you can do it.

Stop trying to make money online and MAKE MONEY ONLINE!

How’s that for a start!
